Following the alert given by BLO on the final deployment of the M23 to take control of the city of Goma, it is clear that this rebellion already confirms its active presence in several places across North Kivu, by sporadic attacks, targeted killings, attacks on high-ranking residences even in the city of Goma. This preludes the imminent fall of the region within the nearest timeframe, unless an effective deterrent is immediately mounted.
Indeed, there is no need to doubt the seriousness of the threat thus signaled, as the following indices reveal alarmingly:
– Elements of the M23 infiltrated Nyamilima last week, where they assassinated police officers guarding the CENI center, with the proven intention of taking the enrollment kit;
– The same phenomenon was observed in Kanyabayonga under the same conditions and with the same objectives;
– Tonight, another policeman was shot dead at the Nyanzale enlistment center by alleged supporters of the same rebellion.
– In the meantime, the sabotage insecurity takes the elevator everywhere, down to the heart of the capital city of North Kivu, Goma, where an attack by the infiltrated outlaw targeted the home of Colonel FARDC Théophile Kilasi, commander of SCAS / Goma garrison, at the Ndosho district. This attack resulted in the murder of a child of this military authority.
The deployment movement of the M23 troops continues in all directions of the territories of North Kivu, but above all with a focus concentrated on the intention to take control of the city of Goma.
The overriding intention to disrupt the electoral process in the region does not detract from the objectives of this rebellion. Rutshuru, Masisi and Nyiragongo are today the most fertile incubation ground from where the gestation of the M23 will explode its new conquest.
“It is thus understood the grave danger of any extension to the power of Joseph Kabila. Congolese worthy of the name must reject any form of transition. Indeed, given what is happening in Kivu- Ituri, any transition beyond December 2016 would allow time and resources to the Congolese government which is, obviously, an accomplice of the Rwandan occupation of Kivu-Ituri in progress “(Father Vincent Machozi, March 19, 2016, speech that earned his murder the next day)
